The Leading Activity of the Adolescence in Terms of the Main Developmental Objectives

Abstract

The article discusses the conditions of leading activity development in adolescence. An overview of theories about the leading activity of adolescents is presented (D. B. Elkonin, T. V. Dragunova, D. I. Feldstein, V. V. Davydov, K. N. Polivanova, G. A. Zuckerman, O. V Lishin, A. V. Petrovsky, etc.). It is noted that in the early adolescence the active search for the environment, reference groups and activity that are favorable for the solving the basic problems of development at this stage. In adolescence, one can observe the variation in leading activities. Here, depending on the context of development, the child independently chooses the activity that meets the basic tasks of becoming a person at this age. It is noted that only such activity that is recognized as important for an adolescent by the group of people is considered as the leading activity. The conditions, under which the leading activity of adolescence is formed, corresponding to the developmental tasks for this age, are described. The conditions of development, in which the leading activity at this stage is not normative, are discussed.
