Experience of forming of tolerance in junior pupils in modern Russia

Abstract

The contribution analyzes the problem of forming of tolerance in junior pupils. It analyzes the specific context of work on forming of tolerance in junior pupils within the framework of school education. It identifies the psychological conditions of forming of tolerance, indices of tolerance. In accordance with identified indices of tolerance it identifies levels of tolerance formation of a junior pupil. Specific attention is paid to analysis of questions of the role of the adult in the process of forming of tolerance; the role and place of collective creative activity; necessity of formation of prosocial orientation of a forming personality. The research was made from 2000 to 2007 with pupils of 2nd–4th grades of Mytyschi Gymnasium №16 and Moscow Secondary Schools № 697 and № 1304. The main experiment involved 208 pupils of 4 grades of Mytyschi Gymnasium №16 who study within the framework of the traditional education system. The results of the experiment convincingly show that the identified complex of psychological conditions based on working with emotional reactions and conditions of children, allows to efficiently form tolerance in its entirety as an integral characteristic of an individual which is displayed not only in classes but also in out-of-class communication and interaction.
