Abstract

In this work we discuss the psychological characteristics of the maternal sphere in orphan girls. The purpose of the study was to examine the characteristics of psychological readiness for motherhood in girls who are pupils of boarding schools. According to the general hypothesis, the psychological readiness for motherhood in orphan girls is particular due to the development in the educational environment of closed institutions (on example of two regions: Magadan and Moscow). According to the study, which was attended by 135 girls (65 pupils of boarding schools / orphanages and 70 brought up in families), we revealed the following peculiarities of maternal orphans sphere: lack in productive (positive, realistic) models of family, motherhood, social development (professional development, movement in society); idealizing and stereotypes about the main components of motherhood (images of mother, themselves as mothers), the development and specificity of the operational block; unawareness about life prospects of their role as mothers.
