Strategic Competence and Linguistic Identity Development of a Bilingual

The article is devoted to strategic competence development of linguistic identity. The initial strategic competence is formed during a person’s learning and communication experiences that precede the beginning of learning a new language. The main strategies of a linguistic identity are learning and communication strategies. The approach to communication strategies as to a special kind of plans was most actively developed from the speech activity theory perspective. This theory requires localization of the strategies in the speech generation scheme in connection with the processes of orientation, planning, realization and control of the speech act. Unlike other competences strategic experience can be positively transferred when learning a new language if applied strategies of the linguistic identity are effective. For the further strategic competence development of a bilingual we propose a system of strategic exercises. These exercises are based on the following characteristics: problem directivity and awareness and consideration of the motivational self-assessment processes.
