Abstract

The article discusses results of the study that was aimed at developing the preparedness to work with left-handed children in prospective elementary classes teachers. The methodical preparedness of students for this aspect of the work was considered as a complex system formation integrating the pedagogical orientation that ensures the teacher’s activity while training and educating children in this category. We hypothesized that the following conditions will contribute to the increase of effectiveness of this process: actualization of the students’ personal experiences of interaction with left-handed people; game simulation of the “spoonerism” situations; broadening and deepening students’ knowledge about left-handed pupils; the development of skills for creating teaching materials for the left-handers; mastering the techniques of psychological and pedagogical support of elementary school pupils. In the study20 elementary school teachers and 95 students of the L.N. Tolstoy Tula State Pedagogical University have participated.
