Psychology of Professional Activity of an Operative Officer

Abstract

The article is devoted to developing theoretical and methodological foundations of psychology of the operational and investigation activities, identifying the socio-psychological characteristics, factors and conditions for optimizing the professional activities of the operative officers. The article presents the results of a study on psychological features of an operative officer. The essential properties of the “operative officer” category are described. The professionally important characteristics of an operative officer were examined using the following methods: Leary Interpersonal Behavior Test, R. Cattel’s 16 Personality Factors Test, Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Hanin, Spielberger, 1983). A set of selected techniques yielded the most comprehensive information that takes into account the results of each of the techniques. The study also included an expert survey, the results of which have deepened the understanding of the psychological features of an operative officer.
