On the method of identification of development of scientific thinking among school pupils

Abstract

The contribution analyzes the author’s method of identification of development of scientific thinking among school pupils on the example of biology, which included three types of test tasks: on generalization by a signigficant charactetistic, classification and qualitative evaluation. The method was tested on 37 pupils of VII grades, 40 pupils of VIII grades and 30 pupils of IX grades of Moscow gymnasium №1257. The pupils were assessed for intellectual development using the R.Amthauer’s intelligence structure test. The results of our method do not have a significant correlation with the results of the R.Amthauer’s intelligence structure test. The following conclusions were made: the created method can be used for operative identification of problems of development of scientific perceptions of school pupils; the general intellectual level of development in existing programs in biology does not influence the development of scientific perceptions; modern general education school gives a broad base of knowledge on the subject but does not allow to fully develop the scientific thinking of school pupils. Development of scientific thinking demands changes firstly in the content of existing school subjects.
