Fundamentals of profiling to ensure transport safety: a technology and academic discipline

Nowadays, the issues of security on transport infrastructure are as relevant as ever. Of course, one of the most dangerous are the acts of terrorism that in crowded places, can cause enormous damage and carry dozens of lives of civilians. In this regard, the law enforcement authorities should take drastic measures and use new technologies, which can help to prevent not only the threat of terrorist attacks, but also other types of crime on transport. Obviously, a synthesis is needed of tactical, psychological and legal actions that could be implemented by professionals of the highest level from the ranks of police officers. This article explains the need for training senior undergraduate students on a subject “Fundamentals of profiling to ensure transport safety” in Universities of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. We reveal the concept and essence of profiling technology, consider psychological and legal aspects of this technology and substantiated the main areas of profiling application on transport infrastructure objects.
