Impact of procrastination on the stress levels of students

Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of procrastination from two viewpoints as a form of adaptive process, depending on its orientation in the structure of human behavior. The first position considers procrastination as a form of psychological defenses - avoidance, which can lead to negative consequences, reduced adaptation and the formation of disruptive behavior. Another view is to discuss this phenomenon as a form of coping strategies allowing in some cases adapt and self-realize effectively. The article describes a research of procrastination phenomenon relationship to the components of stress and coping strategies in the student population. The main aims of the study described in this article were: analysis of the interaction and impact of procrastination on the level of stress, revealing the level of stress components, as well as the revealing the most common coping strategies among students of various years of studying. The topic of the study is the phenomenon of procrastination as a form of coping strategies among students. The object is the influence of procrastination on the stress level. The actuality of the paper is an experimental study of the relationship and influence of procrastination on the stress level.
