Extremist orientation of personality in legal and psychological knowledge

579

Abstract

The article addresses the problem of extremism considered through the prism of deformation of young people’s legal awareness, distortion of their life meaning and formation of negative identity. An interdisciplinary approach to legal awareness (law and psychology) as one of the factors of formation of personality extremist orientation in young people is proposed. The article presents a study on the extremist orientation and self-identity of those convicted of extremist activities, where the following types were revealed: "Fighter", "Defender", "Victim" and "Seeker". The interrelation between the extremist orientation types identified in the convicts and their criminal role ("Organizer", "Accomplice" and "Performer") was analyzed. The revealed identity features of those convicted of extremism reflect the dynamics of their legal awareness under conditions of serving their sentence; this allowed us to outline programs of psycho-prophylaxis and psycho-correction of personality extremist orientation in all its aspects (legal, social, pedagogical and psychological).
