Abstract

Context and relevance. In modern psychology, special attention is paid to the study of biological, psychological and social factors affecting personality development. The study of attachment allows us to consider a child in the context of his relationship with his mother, and to identify the relationship between the quality of such emotional interaction and the development of the child's personal characteristics. Objective. To identify the relationship between the types of attachment of mothers and the personal traits of preschoolers. Hypothesis. There is a significant relationship between the types of attachment of mothers and the personality traits of preschoolers. Methods and materials. The study involved 82 respondents — 41 mother––child couples — from intact families with one child. 46,3% of preschool age respondents were boys and 53,7% were girls (M = 6,4, SD = 0,5). The following techniques were used to conduct the study: “Experiences in Close Relationships Revised, ECR-R” (K. Brennan, R.K. Fraley, adapted by T.V. Kazantseva); “Ladder” (V.G. Shchur); “Cactus” (M.A. Panfilova). Results. Insecure types of maternal attachment are associated with anxiety, demonstrativeness, and aggressiveness in preschoolers, while secure types of maternal attachment are associated with high self-esteem and leadership qualities in preschoolers. Conclusions. It is shown that the types of attachment of mothers are significantly related to the personal characteristics of preschoolers.
