Emotional burnout among notaries
Abstract
Context and relevance. Emotional burnout is a widespread phenomenon in the socionomic professions due to high empathetic load. Objective. The purpose of the study was to determine the presence and level of emotional burnout among notaries and how it affects communicative competence. Methods and materials. The study involved respondents (N = 290) aged from 27 to 68 years (M = 45.04; SD = 9.6) with professional experience from 1 to 48 years (M = 14.2; SD = 10.6), among whom 87.5% are women and 12.5% are men. To diagnose the level and phases of emotional burnout (Tension, Resistance and Exhaustion), V. Boyko’s Questionnaire was used. To diagnose communicative competence, the Communicative Tolerance Questionnaire was used. Results. The results of the study demonstrate the presence of emotional burnout among notaries, particularly the active formation of a resistance phase. A study of communicative competence showed that the manifestation of intolerance in behavior decreases with age, and the emotional non-acceptance of a partner grows with increasing experience. Regression analysis showed that emotional burnout burnout in general and especially its two later phases make a significant contribution (R2 = 0.339) to the level of communicative tolerance. Conclusions. Emotional burnout significantly contributes to communicative efficacy, and its prevention will contribute to enhancing the professional proficiency of notaries.
