Language in the national education system (on the example of the language situation in Scotland)

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of Scots dialect as one of regional European languages. Scots is seen as part of Scottish and European heritage and there is an ongoing literary tradition. With the view of promoting the use of Scots, various measures are taken by government, educational bodies and scientific societies.
