On the 14th of March a wonderful person, outstanding psychologist and philosopher Aron Abramovich Brudny has passed away.
A. A. Brudny was born in 1932 in the city of Frunze. In 1947 he graduated from the local school as an external student, then entered and in 1953 became an alumni of the philosophy department of the historical and philosophical faculty of the Kirgiz State University and in 1954 — the medical faculty of the Kirgiz Medical Institute. In 1960 he defended his Ph.D thesis on Philosophy and in 1970 — his doctoral thesis titled "Language, consciousness and activity".
In 1971 A. A. Brudny worked in Jung Institute (Switzerland) where he investigated the issues of the collective unconscious and the phenomena of communication and understanding. In 1972
A. A. Brudny was conferred the academic position of a professor.
Aron Abramovich Brudny collaborated with M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University: contributed to development of the MSU psychological faculty, gave courses of lectures on social psychology in 1974—1978. In 1984—1998 he was the head of the department for complex human research in the Philosophy Institute of the Kirgiz Academy of Science, then — the head of psychology chair in the American University in Central Asia (Bishkek, 1998—2001), from 2001 to 2011 he was the head of psychological laboratory of that university. A. A. Brudny was actively engaged in teaching: he gave the courses "Personality psychology", "Psychoanalysis", "Contemporary psychological theories", "Psychology of art" and the others, guided the work on degree, Ph.D and doctoral theses.
A. A. Brudny was the founder and the chairman of Kirgiz Psychological Society. He was a distinguished scientist, honoured educator, in 1966 he became a laureate of the Kirgiz Republic State Award. A. A. Brudny was a corresponding member of the Kirgiz Republic National Academy of Science as well as full member of the Academy of pedagogical and social sciences, the Russian Academy of Natural Science, the New York and California Academies of Science.
Aron Abramovich Brudny was the author of more than 350 scientific papers including such psychological best-sellers as "The Space of Possibilities", "Psychological Hermeneutics", "Personetics".
In 2010 Aron Abramovich Brudny afforded us the honour of entering the editorial board of the international scientific journal "Social Psychology and Society". In spite of short period of our collaboration he proved himself as an active collaborator, a top-level professional; particular at the contents but very benevolent reviewer and editor.
The demise of Aron Abramovich Brudny is an irreplaceable loss for psychological science as well as a hard bereavement for everyone who communicated and dealt personally and professionally with that wonderful man, reliable friend, outstanding scientist.
The editorial board and editorial council of "Social Psychology and Society" journal condole sincerely and deeply with the relatives and close friends of Aron Abramovich Brudny. May his memory live forever in our hearts.
