Delegation of Powers: A Research on Social Psychological Features

The paper describes the results of the empirical study that analyses the psychological reality reflecting the features of delegation of powers by executives of various types of companies and the relationship between this process and the effectiveness of individual and group activities. The outcomes of the study show that the work effectiveness of the executives correlates with such personality traits as activity, sociability, impulsivity, and emotionality, whereas the delegation of powers is rather related to such formal factors as the size of the company, the number of subordinates, and the amount of work to be done, than to some specific psychological characteristics of the executives. No significant correlation between the work effectiveness of the executives and their delegation of powers was found in the study.
