Social and Social Psychological Specifics of Private Schooling in Modern Russian Education

Abstract

The paper reviews organizational and psychological specifics of such non-state schooling sector as private schools in Russia. A survey was carried out in order to reveal the basic motivation underlying parents' choice of private schooling for their children. The paper describes social psychological features of the social and interpersonal situations of development that define the social psychological settings in which the students of private schools grow and develop, and discusses in general terms the possible perspectives of private schooling in mod- ern Russian education.
