ADHD – The appropriation of psychic functions as a problem of development

In dealing with the controversial discussion about ADHS in Germany, it can be shown that attention deficit disorders may not be understood without a psychological theory concerning the development of children. Vygotskij’s metaphor of the two lines of development, his pointing out, that focusing a systemic view on the development of mental abilities like perception, emotional control or attention are used as a method of analysis in order to understand the regularities of development and possible determinations of attention problems as well. However, in discussing the analysis of attention development by Hildebrand-Nilshon and Seeger it can be demonstrated, that at least Leont’evs concept of sense and meaning is decisive for understanding the psychological dimension of the dynamics of development in learning self control.
