Abstract

The presentation outlined selected organizational principles of American psychology, psychological practice, and education and licensing of psychologists. Namely, three principles were discussed: peer review, evidence-based practice, and translational research. Peer reviewing assumes that publication, fi nancing, and promotion is based on comments from peers. Evidence-based practice assumes the presence of empirical evidence for any and all claims translatable into policies and for any and all interventions. Translational research assumes the existence of a pipeline connecting fundamental science and practical applications
