Early Childhood Memories of Adults with Different Early Maladaptive Schemas

Abstract

Using the method of analysis of early childhood memories is an valuable source of unconscious information that reflects the most important psychological aspects that have an impact on the person at the moment. Empirical data on the specifics of early childhood memories in people with different dominant maladaptive schemas are extremely limited. The aim of the research was to study early childhood memories of adults with different early maladaptive schemas. The detailed content analysis of early childhood memories enabled identifying the characteristic features of adult memories with different predominant maladaptive schemas. It was revealed that the environment and experience characteristic of certain early maladaptive schemas and schema domains were reflected in early childhood memories.
