The approach to the operational structure of psychological well-being
Abstract
This article is a continuation of scientific work on the description of the theoretical structure of psychological well-being of the individual. In the previous publication, we described the problem of conceptual blurring of psychological well-being, hedonistic and eudemonistic aspects of psychological well-being, the possibilities and limitations of psychophysiological research on psychological well-being, as well as Russian researchers’ approaches to the study of psychological well-being. The relevance of the work is determined by the growing interest in the study of the problem field of psychological well-being of the individual on the part of the scientific community, administrative resources and society as a whole, which is also confirmed by numerous scientific studies and legislative acts. Within the framework of the presented research, two models of psychological well-being are analyzed: Carol Ryff's “Psychological Well-Being Scale” and Martin Seligman's “PERMA”. The common theoretical basis of both constructs is revealed, throw which the author's approach to the empirical measurement of psychological well-being is considered. Through theoretical analysis and theoretical correlation of the author's approach, presented by a battery of questionnaires and scales of "Scale of psychological well-being" and scales of "PERMA", an unified operational construct of psychological well-being, including the components: life satisfaction, self-esteem and self-efficacy, is proposed. The position of the authors, which limits the application of the presented approach, is indicated by describing the most appropriate research designs for the presented approach. The prospect of further research to expand the presented problem field is outlined.
