Modern Digital Didactics: Turning a Visual Tool Into a Tool for Organizing Thinking

104

Abstract

The summary provides an analysis of the typical features of modern Power Point presentations created by teachers to teach schoolchildren, in terms of the child’s activity envisaged by them. For the analysis, we took 10 first presentations recommended in the network for primary school teachers for conducting lessons on the course “The World Around”. It is shown that only about half of these resources provide conditions for some other activity of students than just simple acquaintance with the information contained in the presentation. The nature of the envisaged activity does not differ in variety: mainly these are answers to the questions asked by the teacher and presented on the slides. This paper provides an alternative example of a digital resource created in the Power Point program, which can provide such active actions of students as choosing a strategy for solving a problem, analyzing options, planning, working with an information text, etc. being in the position of a person involved in a certain activity. The technological features of such a resource (branched “quest” structure, task-oriented nature, auxiliary-reference place of information) are revealed and its capabilities in the practice of teaching students and teachers are shown.
