Program on the Prevention of Substance Use “Independence”

Abstract

The article describes the program, which is focused on adolescents who are brought up in organizations for orphans and children left without parental care, who have already experienced episodes of psychoactive substance use, or who have signs of an emerging addiction in its initial stage. This preventive program has been developed taking into account the characteristics of orphans and is aimed at secondary prevention of the use of psychoactive substances. The results of the approbation of the program testify to the positive dynamics of its participants in terms of self-control and self-regulation of behavior. An increase in foresight and caution among pupils was revealed, even to the detriment of obtaining new impressions and information. One of the results of testing the program was the identification of the need to introduce additional diagnostic tools aimed at measuring various ways to overcome negative life situations and ways of interacting with the surrounding society.
