Abstract

This article presents two studies conducted using the author's methods «An Uncertain Situation» (26 3rd graders and 31 4th graders participated in the study) and «Match a Picture» (with 40 3rd graders and 44 4th graders). Results indicate different strategies for solving these cognitive tasks. Strategies are characterized by forms of representation used by children and are in a structural relationship of direct and inverse dependency.
