Abstract

The article presents author's interpretation of the role of cultural precedents in the development of a man as fundamental components of social interaction in line with the ideas of cultural-historical conception of L. S. Vygotsky and the psychological content of the precedent concept (concept of the precedent image / gestalt). The following major functions and characteristics of the precedent texts were determined. The functions are the «markup» of the new reality for a maturing subject, orientation in the mental and true reality. The characteristics are the antecedence, simplicity, collective nature, complexity, embedment into the everyday realities, the content incompleteness. The following types of texts involved in modern socialization are described: «canonical» texts that are transmitted through education and training in educational programs, texts and discourses of subcultures, personally selected texts for one-self.
