Emotional and Personal Status of Adolescents in Schools with a Psychologically Dangerous and Safe Educational Environment
Abstract
The article presents results of the study on psychological characteristics of the educational environment of a high school. This issue is addressed in line with the concept of psychological safety of the educational environment. It is emphasized that mental development takes place in the process of acquisition of social experience and that the adolescent personality formation depends on the characteristics of relationships that emerge between him or her and the people around. The results of empirical research on level and nature of adolescents’ anxiety associated with school, the emotional attitude to learning and the development of self-attitude of adolescents enrolled in schools with psychologically dangerous and safe educational environments are presented. The study compared two samples of adolescents from 10 to 15 years old. Results indicate that the psychological characteristics of the school’s educational environment have an impact on emotional and personal state of adolescents.
