Abstract

The article analyses the traditions of «spiritual will» genre in Russian literature in the XIX сеntury. Special reference is made to the church style, in particularto the choice of words, in N.V. Gogol’s works.. It should be assumed that of especial impact in the sphere of the developing Russian autobiographical literature was the activity of Saint Ignaty Bryanchaninov. In this connection extremely interesting for research is the problem of transformation of the «spiritual will» genre into diary forms.
