Abstract

The article describes the three main stages of cultural development of the child on the example of the history of the development of the index gesture. The general genetic law of cultural development is formulated. It is indicated that the essence of the process of cultural development is that the child through the surrounding adults becomes himself. What is the process of becoming a person. It is noted that development goes not along the path of socialization, but along the path of transforming social relations into mental functions.
