Abstract

Context and relevance. The study of the age characteristics of the artistic development of children, in particular at the age of 9-10 years, is relevant in connection with the active restructuring of consciousness caused by changes in the system of relations of children with the surrounding reality and other people (the transition from primary school to adolescence, the so-called "crisis of 10 years"). Purpose. Identification of the features of the content of the ideas of children's drawings, reflecting the ideas of children about the most important features of the people depicted by them during the transition from primary school to adolescence. Hypothesis. In the plans of drawings of children 9-10 years old, it is possible to detect the emergence of a new attitude towards a person caused by entering the transition period from primary school to adolescence. Methods and materials. Sample: 36 students of school No. 91 of Moscow (18 students of grade III aged 9.5-10 years and 18 students of grade II aged 8-8.5 years). Method: using the reception of a double survey of the subject about the content of his plan (before and after drawing). Procedure: subjects were asked to come up with a drawing about the event with well-known people and draw it, while recording the statements of children, their questions and explanations. Data analysis: analysis of statements, actions and figures to determine the characteristics of the main character of the event. Results. Grade III students were more likely to choose peers as the main characters (83%), while second-graders distributed the choice between peers, adults and non-specific people approximately equally (28-33% each). In the plans of third graders, assessments of the actions of the characters (50%) and indications of emotional experiences (35%) are much more common, which is practically absent in second graders. Third graders tend to describe specific life situations and conflicts, while second graders are more likely to depict generalized events or fictional stories. The assessment of the personal qualities of a character in third graders is associated with the assessment of specific actions within the event, while in second graders it is given out of touch with the event being depicted. In the plans of third graders, there was completely no mention of the features of the appearance of the characters, unlike some second graders (22%). Conclusion. The transition from primary school age to adolescence is characterized by a change in the nature of visual activity: children begin to actively include specific life incidents in their plans, focusing not only on actions, but also on the internal experiences, motives and personal qualities of the heroes. This indicates a change in leading activities and the emergence of a new content of communication with people, which can be used by teachers to diagnose personal neoplasms and improve the educational process.
