Abstract

The study was conducted as part of the "Psychological ABC" program. The authors examined two aspects of metaphor in elementary school: psychotherapeutic and personality-developmental. Metaphor in its personality-developmental aspect is largely similar in its functions to literary metaphor (descriptiveness, vividness, and imagery). Metaphor in the "Psychological ABC" program is linked to the child's inner world and therefore taps into a number of structures of children's self-understanding.
