Abstract

The article focuses on the problem of studying adolescents' notions about the world, about themselves and other people, that is highly relevant to the problem of development of one's selfconsciousness. The author describes results of the empirical research on psychological features of modern gifted adolescents' picture of the world. This complicated object was studied from different aspects, using verbal techniques as well as nonverbal. The research shows that gifted adolescents' notions about the world, about themselves and other people are quite specific. At this age their picture of the world undergoes quantitative changes; by the end of adolescence its specificity becomes more evident, and the differences between gifted adolescents and their peers increase. The data obtained in the research help to understand how selfconsciousness develops in gifted adolescents.
