A social identity questionnaire for diagnostics of socio-psychological characteristics of older adolescents student groups

1993

Abstract

The article presents a questionnaire designed to measure the social (group) identity in late adolescence and early adulthood. The questionnaire includes socio-psychological scales, developed by Italian researchers A.R. Graziani, M. Rubini, A. Palmonari, S. Costarelli, and R.M. Calla. We made translation, adaptation, and validation of the questionnaire in secondary schools of Moscow. The questionnaire reliability test showed high level of consistency of scales (Cronbach's alpha = 0.81). We analyze study results of group identity in older adolescents with different positions in status structure of student group. The study involved 212 students of 9 and 10th grades. The average age of the study participants is 15.8 years. The results clearly demonstrate significant differences in the characteristics of social identity in students with different status in intragroup structure of a school class. The conclusion is that the social identity questionnaire can be used as a tool for diagnostics of group socio-psychological profile in educational psychologist’s practice.
