Problems and Prospects of the Development of Pedagogical Education in the Russian Federation

Abstract

The paper discusses the problems of the contemporary teacher education in the Russian Federation and their possible solutions. There are three main groups of problems: 1) the problems of teacher education, defined by the state of the teaching profession (low social prestige, lack of an effective system of professional orientation, single-channel nature of the routes of the future teacher training); 2) the problems of the teacher education itself (lack of communication of the existing Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education in aggregated groups of specialties and areas “Education and Pedagogy” and the requirements of professional standards of teachers, the lack of practical training of graduates of educational programs, the lack of research components in basic professional educational programs); 3) the problem of entering of the graduates in the professional activity (low percentage of employment, lack of post-graduate education programs and young teachers support, the lack of independent evaluation of the qualification obtained). The article shows the possibility of complex measures aimed at addressing these problems, and discussed in the framework of a working group of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation on the modernization of teacher education.
