Social and Pedagogical Practice in Teacher Education

Abstract

The author describes the experience of organization the social and pedagogical practice for students of pedagogical department of an American university. Many teacher training programs in any country of the world are experiencing difficulties with the organization of the earliest forms of practice related to understanding the context of the teaching profession. These problems are mainly related to the high cost of establishing a high-quality practice. Building partnerships with schools and local non-profit organizations allowed providing resources for successful practice models. Charitable non-profit organizations undertook the preparation of students to tutor working with children, supervision and monitoring of their work. The University, in turn, found ways to incorporate the practice into the curricula and provided the schools of the city with a significant amount of additional tutors on a regular basis.
