The Features of Interrogative Activity in Preschoolers and Junior Schoolchildren

This work presents study results on psychological characteristics of interrogative activity among children of senior preschool age (5-7 years) and first graders. One of the main tasks was to elaborate the typology of questions asked by children in a situation of necessity to arbitrary formulate them. To identify the proportions of groups of children’s questions according to this typology. To detect typical and variable features of construction the search process for an unknown object. The research tasks were addressed with a technique developed by the author. With the help of questions it allows finding an object that is hidden from a child. Findings show the proportion of different type of questions among children of three age groups: 5-6, 6-7 and 7-8 years old and children’s potential in search activity organization in order to solve the task. The results indicate some positive dynamics in the development of the ability to search using questions, but at the same time show unrealized potentials. These findings raise the problem of optimizing the psycho-pedagogical conditions for improvement the ability to perform search activity in the form of questions.
