Ratio of subjective well-being and aspirations of the person to change

We discuss the problem of human aspiration to change himrself and his life at different levels of subjective well-being, which is understood as a self-assessment of individual life satisfaction. The research was based on the hypothesis of ambiguous relation between subjective well-being and aspirations of the person to change. The empirical sample comprised 277 residents of the Far East region (208 women and 69 men aged 16 to 56 years). The evaluation of life satisfaction was conducted by the respondents in accordance with the modes of subjective well-being, revealed by R.M. Shamionov. We found that the desire for change increases with decreased level of subjective well-being of the person (significance level p0,05). The detailed analysis of the data reveals that both low and high levels of subjective well-being are not optimal for human development. High rates of life satisfaction are considered as a factor that threatens the development and lead to stagnation.
