Age and gender identity in the perpetrators of sexual violence against children

The article is devoted to the study of age and gender identity in the perpetrators of sexual violence against children. We discuss the factors underlying the pathogenesis of abnormal sexual behavior agains minors. We reveal the features of gender and age identity in individuals who have committed violent sexual acts against children. We note that in patients with a diagnosis of pedophilia, the violations detected affect predominantly the cognitive structure of sexual identity, and manifest in the lack of differentiation of age features of self-image and gender role stereotypes perception. These findings allow a more differentiated assess of violations in the sexual sphere, explanation of the deviant behavior as well as the age and sex structure of the self-consciousness in people with disorders of sexual desire in the form of pedophilia, and get closer to understanding the mechanisms by which the abnormal choice of object of sexual occurs.
