Social Psychological Factors of Professional Health Regulation in Pilots

2146

Abstract

The paper presents results of psychological evaluation of pilots. It reviews the con- nections between health, sociodemographic characteristics and personality traits of the subjects. As it was revealed, signs of mental strain, fatigue and stress strongly cor- relate with the characteristics referring to the social interaction process and behavior regulation in the individual, such as 'sociability', 'emotional lability', 'openness', 'shy- ness', 'balance', 'neuroticism', and 'hardiness'. The study showed that the pilots' satis- faction with the professional activity and its outcomes plays an important role in maintaining their work efficiency and psychological well-being. The results of the study proved that those pilots who had families were more successful in coping with negative stress factors in their workplace as well as in everyday life.
