Risks of Interethnic Conflicts in Educational Institutions of Moscow

The paper presents outcomes of a social psychological monitoring of risks of interethnic conflicts among 9th class students of Moscow schools and students of Moscow colleges. The following issues were in the focus of our study: the scale of ethnonational attitudes; acceptance of violence in interethnic and interconfessional conflicts; attitudes towards migrants; characteristics and popularity of ideologemes referring to patriotic attitudes; readiness to violate laws and norms of public order; preferred type of social consolidation; notions about which ethnocultural features of everyday behaviour can be tolerated in public places of Moscow; assessment of interethnic tensions in the city areas where the students live; assessment of the students' need for information about the history and traditions of the nations, the representatives of which currently reside in Moscow. The paper concludes with some important recommendations concerning the educational environment basing on the major findings of the research.
