Abstract

Digital culture is one of the global trends today. The need for a tool for living in conditions of digital transformation has led to the emergence of numerous approaches to the interpretation of the content of digital culture. The dominant role in the development and formation of digital culture for building a knowledge society belongs to teachers. However, there is a contradiction between the current course on digital transformation of education and the real degree of readiness of teachers to carry out professional activities in these conditions. This article is devoted to the description of a pedagogical experiment to identify the state of digital culture of undergraduate students of pedagogical training areas. The results of the ascertaining study indicate a lack of understanding by students of the essence and significance of digital culture in the modern world. At the formative stage of the study, 122 students were offered a computer training course "Digital culture and digital literacy of teachers". The control stage of the experiment included the generalization and comparison of indicators of the initial and final level of development of students' digital culture competencies. Its results allow us to draw conclusions about increasing the motivation of students in the formation of their digital culture competencies and readiness to help other participants in the educational process in this. The data of the conducted experiment indicate the need to introduce courses on digital culture and digital literacy in the training programs for future teachers, as well as to extend this experience to master's degree programs and professional development programs for existing educators.
