Application of PLM Technologies in Integrated Engineering Education

Abstract

Modern engineering education demands the transfer of knowledge and technology between the university and industrial enterprises to ensure highly qualified young specialists. The paper examines the methods of application and functioning of new production technologies as an element of the scientific and educational infrastructure of the university and the problem of their adaptation in the scientific and educational process when carrying out professional training of engineering students during project activities as one of the types of practice-oriented approach to teaching. To develop professional competencies and skills required by students, it is necessary to orient students towards industrial technologies and provide a basis of methodological, information and technological support for training courses. Today, advanced manufacturing technologies are directly related to technet and integrated digital manufacturing solutions based on the concept of digital twins. In the context of the digital transformation of higher education, these solutions can be introduced into the educational process when students carry out project activities to work in a single digital virtual production model based on PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) technologies. An integrated digital approach to project-based learning makes it possible to form the basis for interdisciplinary team project activities of engineering students, to increase the effectiveness of integrated forms of engineering training based on cooperation with industrial enterprises and other industry universities, including international level.
