Abstract

This paper explores the multifaceted impact of online technologies on foreign language learning, demonstrating how digital tools are not merely transforming the learning process but fundamentally changing our understanding of linguistic proficiency and cultural fluency. From the creation of global learning ecosystems to the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, this paper examines how digital technologies are empowering learners to be engaged with languages in authentic, personalized, and deeply immersive ways. It highlights the key benefits of online language learning, including increased access to resources, personalized learning pathways, enhanced core language skills, and the synergy of independent and collaborative learning. The paper also addresses the challenges and best practices for implementing digital technologies in language education, emphasizing the importance of pedagogical alignment, digital literacy, balancing technology and human interaction, continuous assessment and adaptation, and professional development for educators and learners.
