Abstract

Due to the expanding possibilities of using neural networks in recent years, as well as the accelerating pace of the introduction of new technologies into the educational process, the relevance of research at the intersection of psychology and computer science is increasing. This paper is devoted to the theoretical substantiation of the role of metacognitive abilities in learning using chat-GPT technology. With the help of a summary analysis of the literature published in the scientometric databases Google Scholar and E-library and selected according to the criteria of relevance, the key problems of using digital educational technologies of the new generation are identified in terms of their impact on the metacognitive sphere of personality and the effectiveness of learning material assimilation. A theoretical analysis of approaches to understanding the phenomenon of metacognitive abilities is given, as a result of comparing the main provisions, a proper definition of the term is proposed. In addition, the article discusses the transformation of cognitive processes in connection with the appeal to virtual or digital reality. The results of research in recent years are considered, in connection with which a number of requirements are put forward for the procedure of experimental research on this issue, and the contribution of psychological science methods to expanding the possibilities of the correct use of digital technologies in the learning process is justified.
