Risks of Modern Cyberspace: Results of an Empirical Study Among Students of a Pedagogical University

Abstract

The article presents the results of the study of Internet risk perception by students of pedagogical university in order to identify their readiness to counter Internet threats, as well as the ability to transfer this knowledge to their students in their future professional activities. The study was conducted using the focus group method, in which students of Tomsk State Pedagogical University participated. The main focus was on analyzing opinions about the key risks and threats of the modern Internet, as well as the role of preparing future teachers to ensure cybersecurity of their students. The study participants emphasized the importance of Internet safety knowledge among teachers and schoolchildren, and expressed concern about the lack of digital security training in their curricula. The results of the study demonstrated that future teachers are aware of the importance of protecting their students from cyber threats and the need for preventive work in educational institutions to reduce the risks associated with the use of the Internet and to develop young people's skills for safe behavior in the digital environment.
