Connectivism in the Social History of Educational Technologies

8

Abstract

This article analyzes Siemens and Downs' (2005-2008) connectivism as a learning concept formulated during the spread of Web 2.0 technologies. Based on an analysis of primary sources and research on the CCK08 course, the architecture of connectivist learning is described: a decentralized network of individual blogs, RSS content aggregation, and the ARRFF pedagogical model. The study reconstructs the conceptual sources of connectivism in cybernetics, connectionism, and economic theories of distributed knowledge. The work positions connectivism as an attempt at theoretical understanding of network forms of learning in the context of digital technologies.
