В статье проводится обобщение результатов более тридцати исследований последних лет, посвященных самоповреждающему поведению у лиц с пограничным личностным расстройством. Особое внимание обращается на многообразие форм самоповреждающего поведения и проводится анализ мотивов нанесения самоповреждений.
В общей популяции распространенность самоповреждающего поведения невелика.
Так, по данным Klonsky (2003) при обследовании 2000 юношей призывного возраста
он установил наличие самоповреждающего поведения только в 4% случаев [Klonsky,
2003].
