Abstract
Context and relevance. A positive attitude toward parents among primary school students serves as the foundation forъ preventing deviant behavior. The theoretical justification for the study is the model of risk factors for the deviant behavior development. Objective. To test and determine the impact of the training program “Me and My Family”, the main aim of which is to build a positive attitude toward parents in younger schoolchildren and to reduce the risk factors for the development of deviant behavior. Hypothesis. Building a positive attitude toward parents among primary school students is an effective way to correct specific risk factors that can result in deviant behavior. Methods and materials. The program was implemented at a comprehensive school in Moscow. The program was implemented in one of Moscow public schools. The study involved 32 children aged between 8 and 10 years (19 boys and 13 girls). To identify the risk factors for deviant behavior in younger school children, the following methods were used: “A. Bass—E. Durkee “Aggression Questionnaire” (“Buss—Durkee Hostility Inventory” (BDHI)) adapted by E.I. Rogov; “Phillips School Anxiety Test” adapted by L.A. Golovey and E.F. Rybalko; “Criteria for a Child's Aggression” questionnaire developed by G.P. Lavrentieva and T.M. Titarenko. A.I. Zarov’s questionnaire “Method for Identifying Children with Parents” was used to diagnose a child's attitude towards parents. Results. The tested training program “Me and My Family” proved to be effective in reducing the risk factors for deviant behavior in primary school students. Conclusions. It has been shown that a positive attitude of younger schoolchildren toward their parents is a significant factor in preventing the development of risk factors for deviant behavior such as aggressiveness, hostility, and increased anxiety.
