Poetry as Means of Personal Emotional-Semantic Sphere Regulation

Abstract

This article discusses the interaction between psychology and the arts, particularly poetry. Psychology should encompass the highest achievements of arts in the field of active influence on personality. Art (Poetry) is a carrier of «unscientific,» «live» psychological knowledge, through which it provides psychological in its content influence on personality. This gives grounds to consider it as a form of psychotechnical influence and allows regarding it as a precursor of psychological practice. We have developed two ways to use poetry as means for personal emotional-semantic sphere regulation: poetry workshop in a mode of Bibliotherapy and poetry workshop in a mode of creative expression. The novelty of this alternative approach to workshops' organization lies in the process of poetry selection that is based on identifying the tension degree of emotional and semantic field of the poem as a specific means of influence on the workshop's participant personality.
