Empathic as an ability: structure and development in the process

Abstract

The paper proposes a model of the development of empathy as the ability. The model of empathic ability, built on the ability's model of V.D. Shadrikov, is introduced. The structure of empathic ability as consisting of functional, operational and motivational components is analyzed. Techniques and methods of empathy development are discussed on the basis of proposed model. Results of the experimental study of the psychological counseling students' empathy development in the process of co-experiencing psychotherapy training are presented.
