Abstract

Objective. The article is devoted to the development and validation of a brief 15-item instrument designed to survey adolescent girls and young women. The tool assesses the behaviors and attitudes of microsocial environment subjects (mother, father, peers) that may influence the risk of developing eating disorders (ED) in the respondents themselves. Methods and materials. The study involved 148 female adolescents (mean age 15.36 ± 1.58 years) recruited from secondary educational institutions in Ryazan and Vologda, Russia. Validation was conducted against the EAT-26 cutoff score (≥ 20 points) using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), odds ratio (OR) calculation, ROC analysis. Results. Stepwise CFA confirmed a four-factor structure of the questionnaire with high internal consistency across subscales: 1) Attitudes (anti-fat attitudes of the immediate environment); 2) Pressure/Criticism (direct weight-related pressure on the respondent); 3) Fitness Modeling (fitness activity of others as a behavioral model); 4) Dieting Modeling (restrictive eating behavior of others as a model). The 5-item “Pressure/criticism” subscale, when scores are aggregated across all three figures (mother + father + peers), demonstrated exceptional predictive power. Scoring in the top quartile of this cumulative indicator increases the odds of identifying ED risk by 99 times (OR = 99); the etiologic fraction (EFe|OR) is 98.9%. Conclusion. The ISP-EDR-15 questionnaire is a reliable tool for both research and diagnostic purposes. Cumulative score of the “Pressure/criticism” subscale is recommended for rapid and effective screening, enabling the identification of risk groups while accounting for family structure.
