Abstract

The article considers some aspects of the practice of education in one of the largest monasteries in Russia - the Solovetsky Transfiguration Monastery. As a kind of "institution of education," the monastery performed two functions: 1) was the center of the educational system of the White Sea region; 2) prepared monks to reproduce their own structure. The author analyzes the multi-stage system of monastery education, the task of which was to acquire certain knowledge, form a worldview and a new way of life.
